Bravo alternatives for a pawn shop, and the option of not switching
Searches for a “Bravo alternative” mostly land on review sites and on other vendors’ pages. This one lists the systems we know of, quotes only what each vendor publishes, and adds the option those pages leave out: keeping the POS you already run and putting better numbers on top of it.
The short answer
The independent pawn systems still sold in the U.S. include PawnSmarts, Hi-Tech Pawn, Pawn Wizard PRO, PawnMate and PawnSnap, plus a handful of regional Texas systems on the state regulator’s list. Bravo itself says it has converted shops from PawnMaster, PawnMate, PawnSnap, Third Charm, Hi-Tech, Dazzle, Xcel SuperPawn, Pawn Wizard, WinPawn and XPawn, so several of those still have a base of shops.

What to check before any conversion
- Exports. Ask for a sample sales export and a sample inventory export before you sign. If a system cannot give you your own numbers as a file, you will be asking this question again in five years.
- What converts. Customers, active loans and inventory usually come across. Ask about closed sales history by name, and how many years.
- Per-station and per-module fees. Two of the published price lists above charge per register and per feature; a three-register shop should price itself as one.
- Police reporting. LeadsOnline, BWI, RISS, CAPSS in California, the Utah database: confirm the one your jurisdiction requires is supported, not just “police reporting”.
- Read-only access to the old system. Bravo promises it for PawnMaster migrations. Ask any vendor the same.
The alternative nobody sells: keep your POS
If your system writes tickets, files your police report and does not crash, the reason to leave is usually the numbers: what to pay, what to mark down, what is sitting. That is a reporting problem, and it can be solved on top of the POS you have rather than by replacing it.
