What PawnCounter adds

LeadsOnline says its reporting service is used by secondhand dealers, pawnshops and gold buyers, among others. If your shop reports to it, your POS already writes a file of every item you took in, every day. That file is half of what PawnCounter needs, whatever POS you run.

Add a sales or inventory export from your POS and the free Profit X-Ray shows what is sitting on your floor, what to mark down and who is paying too much. PawnCounter only reads a copy of the file: it never sends anything to LeadsOnline and does not touch your reporting.

• A markdown list: items priced above what the same thing actually sold for in your shop, with a price that sold.
• A sell-off list: aged stock ranked by the cash it has tied up.
• Margin, sell-through and days to sale by category, brand and the buyer who wrote the ticket.
• Redemption and forfeiture by category, where your files carry loans.

What to send

• Tickets: your LeadsOnline export (CSV, or the XML your system submits to LeadsOnline).
• Sales and inventory: a sales or inventory export from your POS, so we can see what sold and for how much.

How to find it

If your shop is in a reporting jurisdiction, your POS already produces this file every day — it is what gets sent to LeadsOnline for the police. LeadsOnline covers 30+ states, including New York City.

Most systems either upload a CSV file by FTP or submit tickets directly to LeadsOnline. Look in your POS for its police-reporting or LeadsOnline screen; the export it writes is the file we want.

One file covers many days of tickets. Send as much history as your system will export — ideally the last 12 months.

The police export records what you took in (pawns and buys), but usually not what you sold it for. That is why we also ask for a sales or inventory file: margins and sell-through come from there.

Files and privacy

We accept .csv, .xml, .dbf or .txt, up to 50 MB per file.

Your files may include customer names, ID numbers, dates of birth, addresses and phone numbers. Those fields are hashed before any analysis — we analyze items and dollars, never people. See the Privacy Policy.

PawnCounter only reads a copy of an export. It does not change anything in LeadsOnline and does not file police reports for you.
