What PawnCounter adds

Hi-Tech Pawn’s own site says it uploads directly to LeadsOnline, BWI and RISS, and generates profit and loss statements and balance sheets. PawnCounter does not replace any of that. It answers the questions an accounting report does not: which items to mark down and to what price, which aged stock to sell off first, and which buyer is paying too much.

You keep running Hi-Tech exactly as you do today. PawnCounter reads the police-reporting file Hi-Tech already writes, plus a sales or inventory report.

• A markdown list: items priced above what the same thing actually sold for in your shop, with a price that sold.
• A sell-off list: aged stock ranked by the cash it has tied up.
• Margin, sell-through and days to sale by category, brand and the buyer who wrote the ticket.
• Redemption and forfeiture by category, where your files carry loans.

What to send

• Tickets: Hi-Tech's police-reporting export — either the LeadsOnline format, or the DBF files it writes (DATAPOLC.DBF, or DATAPAWN.DBF and DATABUYS.DBF).
• Sales and inventory: a sales or inventory report exported to CSV.

How to find it

Hi-Tech Pawn's police-reporting screen writes your tickets out for LeadsOnline, or as DATAPOLC.DBF (everything in one file) or DATAPAWN.DBF plus DATABUYS.DBF (split). Any of these works as the tickets file.

Hi-Tech runs on Visual FoxPro. Its program and data live together in the Hi-Tech Pawn folder on the server PC (the folder the other stations reach over the network).

For sales and inventory, export a report to CSV. We match columns by meaning (item number, description, category, cost, price, dates), so the report does not need a particular layout.

We have read Hi-Tech's documentation but not yet a real Hi-Tech shop's files. If a file does not come back as recognized, email it to us and we will make it work.

Files and privacy

We accept .csv, .xml, .dbf or .txt, up to 50 MB per file.

Your files may include customer names, ID numbers, dates of birth, addresses and phone numbers. Those fields are hashed before any analysis — we analyze items and dollars, never people. See the Privacy Policy.

PawnCounter only reads a copy of an export. It does not change anything in Hi-Tech Pawn and does not file police reports for you.
