PawnCounter and eBay Terapeak
eBay’s Product Research, still widely known as Terapeak, is an easy place to see what things sell for online. PawnCounter looks inward instead: at what sold across your own counter, how long it took, and what is still sitting.
The short answer
Terapeak shows you the market. PawnCounter shows you your shop. For an item you have never sold, eBay sold data is often the best evidence available. For the things you take in every week, your own sales are closer to what your customers will pay, and only your own data shows the aged stock and the buyers paying too much.
What eBay says Product Research does
- Searches “time periods of any length, across the last 3 years” of eBay sales.
- Shows “average sold prices, average shipping costs and terms, number of sellers who sold that item, sell-through rates, upward or downward trends, and more.”
- Available to sellers in Seller Hub’s Research tab at no additional charge; Sourcing insights needs a Basic Store subscription or higher.
What PawnCounter adds
- What the same item sold for in your shop, and how many days it took.
- A markdown list for items priced above what they sell for, and a sell-off list for aged stock ranked by cash tied up.
- Margin by category, brand and the buyer who wrote the ticket.
- For pawn shops, redemption and forfeiture by category.
Using both
